Thermal-aware placement. Each block dissipates power (shown in mW) and heats the die around it - the gpu and cpu run hot. The temperature map is the ambient plus every block's heat, so putting the hot blocks together builds a hotspot. But the bold critical nets want connected blocks close for timing, and the two hot blocks are wired to each other, so you are squeezed.
The blocks start piled together: the centre is over the temperature limit and the cool blocks are stranded far from what they drive.
- Peak temperature under limit - spread the high-power blocks apart to cool the hotspot (the red crosshair marks the hottest point).
- Timing closes - keep blocks joined by a bold net close enough. The gpu-to-cpu net means the two hot blocks can be neither too close (heat) nor too far (timing): find the middle distance.
- Legality - blocks in bounds, not overlapping.
Drag the blocks, then Submit design. More thermal headroom scores higher.
