Width-dependent and end-of-line spacing. Minimum spacing is not a single number. Two rules make the required gap depend on context, and you judge each marked spacing against them:
- Width-dependent spacing (the fat-wire rule). The wider a neighbour is, the more spacing it needs. The required gap is set by the wider of the two shapes, read from the rule table: at most 0.10 wide needs 0.10, up to 0.20 needs 0.14, and wider than 0.20 needs 0.20.
- End-of-line spacing. A wire end (a narrow tip) needs more clearance than a wire side: at least 0.16, whatever the width.
The consequence is that the same gap can be legal in one place and a violation in another. Read each marked spacing against the table and its context, click it to mark it legal or a violation, then Submit triage. Dimensions in micrometres.
