Wirelength-driven placement
Placement

Wirelength-driven placement. After floorplanning fixed the die and pins, you place the standard cells. Drag them to minimize the total wirelength (the sum of every net's span) under the target. The cells start scattered, so the nets run long.
- Wirelength under target - cells that share a net (a line between them) want to sit close; a cell wired to a boundary pin (square) wants to sit near that pin. Cluster each connected group and pull it toward its pin.
- Legality - cells inside the die, not overlapping.
Shorter total wirelength scores higher. Submit design when under target.
