Region-constrained placement

Placement medium interactive · in-browser

Region-constrained placement. This block has two kinds of region:

  • Hard fences (red, solid): the secure and analog boxes. Their assigned cells must stay inside, and no other cell may enter (the region is exclusive). A rigid constraint.
  • Soft guide (purple, dashed): the dsp box. Its cells are encouraged inside, but they may spill out if it helps wirelength, and other cells may share the area. A preference, not a rule.

Place everything to minimize wirelength while honoring the regions. The hard-fence cells start outside their boxes and some cells sit inside a fence they do not belong to, so the hard-fence check fails.

  • Hard fences respected - every assigned cell inside its fence, and no foreign cell inside a hard fence.
  • Soft guide - keep the dsp cells in their guide if you can (it is only a preference; spilling one is allowed).
  • Wirelength under target, and legality (in bounds, no overlap).

Submit design once the hard fences are clean and wirelength is under target.
