Mixed-size placement

Placement medium interactive · in-browser

Mixed-size placement. Real placement is not a clean field of identical cells. Large hard macros (the grey blocks: a memory, a multiplier, a signal-processing core) are already fixed in the floorplan, and the standard cells have to be placed in the gaps around them.

  • No overlap with the macros - a standard cell may not sit on top of a fixed macro, so the routing channels between the macros are where the cells go.
  • Wirelength under target - place each cell near the macro or pin its net reaches, threading around the blockages, so the total wire stays under target.

Fit the cells into the channels and pull each toward its connection, then Submit design.
