Congestion-driven placement

Placement medium interactive · in-browser

Congestion-driven placement. Packing cells tightly gives short wires but a dense region will not route. The heat map shows cell density per tile; no tile may exceed the limit. The cells start piled into one corner, so that region is deep in the red.

  • Density under limit - spread the cells out so no tile is over the limit (out of the red).
  • Wirelength under target - but do not scatter them to the winds: the chain of connected cells still has to come under the wirelength target.

Balance spreading against wirelength, then Submit design.
