X-tree construction

Clock Tree Synthesis medium interactive · in-browser

X-tree. An X-tree distributes the clock like an H-tree but along straight diagonal wires instead of right-angle segments, so the paths are measured as straight-line (Euclidean) distance. The root drives four quadrant taps.

  • Skew under target - drag each tap toward the centre of its quadrant and keep the four diagonal arms equal. The same symmetry as the H-tree gives near-zero skew, now on diagonal routing.
  • Latency in budget - keep the longest path within budget.

Make the diagonals symmetric, then Submit design.
