Clock spine (fishbone)

Clock Tree Synthesis medium interactive · in-browser

Clock spine (fishbone). A vertical spine (trunk) is driven at one point, and each sink is fed by a horizontal rib from the spine at its row. A path is the spine travel from the drive point to the sink's row, plus the rib length to the sink.

  • Skew under target - drag the spine sideways to balance the rib lengths (put it near the middle of the sinks' columns), and drag the drive point up or down to balance the spine travel (near the middle of the rows).
  • Latency in budget - keep the longest path within budget.

Balance the fishbone, then Submit design.
